Oxford United in the Community Receive National Lottery Funding

The money will support the growth of Oxford United in the Community’s Manor Club programme by funding new locations across Oxfordshire. 

The programme was launched in 2017 and brings together senior Oxford United supporters to spend an afternoon in the company of a guest speaker. The social initiative is heading into its tenth and biggest season of delivery and aims to reduce the risk of older U’s fans developing feelings of loneliness and isolation by creating new connections with likeminded people.

The sessions currently take place at the Cowley Workers Social Club on the first Wednesday of each month and are hosted by Oxford United legend, Peter Rhoades-Brown. Further details on new locations will be announced in due course.

Chris Lowes, Chief Operating Officer at Oxford United in the Community, said:

“We’re absolutely delighted to receive this grant from the National Lottery Community Fund.

“It is going to enable us to grow our Manor Club provision, but it actually encompasses all our activities and will be a real benefit to a lot of people within Oxfordshire.

“We have exciting plans for the future with a lot of additional activities and programmes. We’re developing our coaching courses and doing a lot of work around wellbeing and inclusion, so watch this space.”

Details of the first Manor Club meeting of the 2026/27 season will be announced shortly across Oxford United in the Community’s social media channels.
