Banbury Win 2026 Premier League Kicks Cup
The tournament brings together participants of the Charity’s free-to-attend Premier League Kicks sessions from across Oxfordshire.
This year, we also hosted a team from Southampton alongside representatives from Oxford, Didcot and Banbury.
Premier League Kicks, funded by the Premier League through the Premier League Charitable Fund, uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people to reach their potential, in some of the most high-need areas in England and Wales. Premier League Kicks sees 93 Premier League, EFL and National League clubs, including Oxford United, delivering free weekly football and personal-development sessions in communities across England and Wales.
After a competitive afternoon of football at the Oxford United Training Centre, it was Banbury who were crowned champions following a penalty shootout win in the final.
Mark Thomas, Social Inclusion Lead at Oxford United in the Community, said:
“Our competition started really small with just Oxford United teams coming together to play football.
“It’s grown each year and we’ve had Southampton come down today which is brilliant.”
Tyreese has attended Premier League Kicks sessions since 2022 and won this year’s tournament with his Banbury teammates.
He said: “I’ve been to around four of these now and it’s never really gone our way.
“We came into today with a strong team, a good round of players and I’m proud that it was this team that I won it with.”
