Oxford United in the Community attend men’s health event
Oxford United in the Community attended a men’s health event at Oxfordshire County Council to raise awareness for our new wellbeing App.
The event, hosted at County Hall, was to mark International Men’s Day, with Oxford United in the Community one of over 15 stallholders in attendance to promote the excellent wellbeing services available around the county.
The new App, made in collaboration with Ownminder, is part of the next phase of the ‘Match Fit’ initiative, which uses the reach and appeal of Oxford United to inspire adults to take small steps towards improving their health and wellbeing.
Chair of Oxfordshire County Council, Mark Lygo, spoke on the importance of the ‘Match Fit’ programme.
He said: “We’re trying to encourage as many people as possible to download the App.
“We’ve got Fuel Well, Move Well and Think Well, and Match Fit is going to encourage people to think about their wellbeing not just for now but also in the future.”
The App is the next phase of the initiative, following the Charity hosting a series of in-person workshops at the Training Centre during pre-season.
At these workshops, supporters heard wellbeing advice from Oxford United players Josh Johnson, Gatlin O’Donkor, Matt Ingram and Matt Phillips alongside Club staff.
Following the visit to Oxfordshire County Council, Oxford United in the Community CEO, Matt Everett, said:
“It’s been really good to support the event today by talking more about Match Fit and learning from so many other providers about the great services that are available across the county.”
