Cam Brannagan and Simon Eastwood Surprise Lifelong Supporter

Len was diagnosed with stage four prostate cancer in 2023, meaning that he can no longer attend Oxford United matches. Despite this, he continues to renew his season ticket so members of his family can attend in his place.

In a visit organised by Oxford United in the Community, Cam and Easty surprised Len at Lincroft Meadow Care Home last week to thank him for his support. They brought with them a signed 2026/27 home shirt and sat down together to talk through their favourite Oxford United memories.

Following the visit, Cam said: “It’s massively important for us players to get involved in the community. It was great to see Len and hopefully we put a smile on his face

“We’ve been doing this for many years and the lads at the club will, likewise, go and do different things throughout the season. It’s very important and something we enjoy doing.”

Len first attended an Oxford United match in the 1960s and highlighted the Wembley win over York City in the 2010 Conference Premier play-off final as his favourite match. James Constable scored United’s second goal that day and, now holding the role of Player Liaison Manager, also attended the care home to visit Len.

Len’s son, Noel, said: “Football was his life and it’s been a massive miss for him.

“To see Cam and Easty turn up has totally gobsmacked him so we’re really grateful. It’s such a nice thing to do and it just brings a smile to his face which is what this is all about.”

The visit was made possible after Noel got in touch with Oxford United in the Community, the Club’s Official Charity. Founded in 1989, Oxford United in the Community uses football and the power of the Oxford United badge to inspire happier, healthier and better-connected communities across Oxfordshire.

Rob Huff, of Oxford United in the Community, said: “It’s great that we can deliver experiences like this, bring the players to see lifelong supporters, and put a smile on the faces of the the residents at the care home.”
