Oxford United in the Community Support Charity Sports Day
Yellow Submarine is an Oxfordshire-based charity that aims to support people with learning disabilities and autism in living life to the full.
They work with young people from the age of 11-years-old to build their social skills, confidence, independence and ultimately their employability.
The charity hosted a multisport day at White Horse Leisure Centre on Thursday 28 May and Oxford United in the Community attended to deliver an hour-long football session.
18 participants took part in the session, which aimed to boost their health and fitness through a series of football drills.
Mark Thomas, Social Inclusion Lead at Oxford United in the Community said:
“It was really good to build on our thriving Inclusion Football Sessions for Adults by partnering with Yellow Submarine to deliver a session for younger participants.
“It was an opportunity as part of Yellow Submarine’s day of multisports where participants have the opportunity to try out different sports, gain skills and confidence to lead healthier, happier lives which ties in nicely to Oxford United in the Community’s mission.
“Working with Yellow Submarine and seeing the great work that they do was so inspiring and hopefully this can be the start of more collaboration between the two organisations.”
