Match Fit

Make small changes to get yourself Match Fit with Oxford United in the Community

Match Fit is Oxford United in the Community’s new project for 2025/26, supported by the Premier League Fans Fund.

The FREE programme offers adults, whether existing fans of the Club or local residents, the opportunity to take small steps towards improving their own performance.

Following the project launch earlier this year a series of pre-season briefings were hosted at the Oxford United Training Ground, focussed on key topics Move Well, Fuel Well and Think Well.

Underpinned by local partners Oxfordshire County Council, Active Oxfordshire and Beezee by Maximus and held overlooking the training pitches, in the restaurant and even the gym these briefings brought people to the heart of the Club to hear from Club experts, players and partner organisations on how they might make small lifestyle changes to get more ‘Match Fit’.

At these briefings, fans heard from Mens first team players Josh Johnson, Gatlin O’Donker, Matt Ingram and Matt Phillips alongside:

  • Dr Phil Hopley, a Consultant Psychiatrist who has been the Mental Fitness Coach for the McLaren F1 Race Team over the last 4 years.
  • Oxford United Lead Performance Chef Jody Palmer, who has worked for the England Women’s Senior Team and Wales National Team as well as various football clubs prior to Oxford United.
  • Oxford United Lead First Team Physical Performance Coach Dwayne Peasah who also works with the Ghanaian national team.

For the next phase of the project, Oxford United in the Community have partnered with Ownminder to offer free access to this exclusive Club content alongside proven Mind Fitness techniques and tools within the Ownminder App.

Whether you would like to improve your own Health & Wellbeing, support a family member, or just learn more about the subjects within an elite environment you can sign up for FREE* access to the Ownminder App HERE.

We would like to thank the Premier League Charitable Fund for supporting this initiative via the Premier League Fans Fund, which provides grants to support football clubs at all levels of the game to strengthen connections between them, their fans, and local communities.

The fund supports a range of fan-focused and fan-led projects, helping to foster a sense of belonging through meaningful engagement. Funding is flexible to empower professional football clubs, and their community organisations, to develop fan-focused and fan-led projects that respond directly to the needs of their local community.
