Oxford United in the Community surprised three primary school children with the chance to meet their Oxford United heroes.

As an early Christmas present, Aisosa, Jayden and Joana from St Mary’s Primary School in Banbury were invited to the Training Centre where they met players from the Oxford United Men’s and Women’s Teams.

The schoolchildren were given a tour of the Training Centre, which included conversations with Oxford United CEO, Tim Williams, and Head Coach of Oxford United Women, Liam Gilbert.

The visit was organised by Oxford United in the Community’s Rob Huff, who spoke on the impact it had.

“I hope it inspires them. The men’s and women’s players that they’ve spoken to today came from normal backgrounds, they’ve been to school like them.

“I hope they’ve had a great day. It’s a Christmas present come early and I hope they really enjoyed it.”

Joana meeting Naomi Bedeau

Oxford United Women superfan, Joana, met her favourite player, Naomi Bedeau, who delivered an identity workshop at St Mary’s Primary School the week before.

Naomi and Jenna Legg gave children a tour around the Women’s Team changing room, before signing autographs along with the rest of the team.

Rob said: “She met all her favourite players and got some stuff signed, so she’s gone home really happy.”
